Reception Pupils' Work

December 2017

We have been learning about celebrations and festivals. We celebrated Sam the Teddy Bear’s 5th birthday. We made decorations, cards and cakes. We then wrote invitations to his party. We had a party in our classroom where we played party games and ate our cake.

We have been learning to work together and help our friends. In our outdoor space we have been working as a team to build our own houses using the large construction. We have then enjoyed role play activities using our models.

November 2017

This week Reception have been learning lots of new sounds.  We have been looking at long and short sounds and bouncing in hoops for short sounds and walking along ropes for long sounds. We then put the sounds together to read words to practice our blending skills.

September 2017

This week the children in Cedar class have enjoyed using tools for a purpose and exploring different materials and textures. They have made their own kites and decorated them using a range of resources. Each kite is unique and reflects the children's characters. They enjoyed cutting, sticking and selecting materials independently. We talked about our favourite colours and investigated different textures using our sense of touch. We displayed our kites to brighten up our classroom.  The children have also been very busy creating decorations for our Macmillan Cake Sale.
